The world’s largest photography fair arrives in Paris in less than two weeks. Paris Photo covers the medium from it’s early days to the present. There’s lots of schmoozing, people watching and usually some good prints, that is, if you can afford the world class prices. I say check it out. If your loaded and photo collecting is your deal then buy away. If your wad’s a little lighter, then I would suggest shopping around before; try contacting the photographer directly, or try going through their agent. One of the best ways to do this is online. A good reference is Vis à Vis. This website brings together different types of photographers under a monthly theme, such as fashion, portrait, landscape, to name only a few. There is always information about where the photographer hails from and how to contact them. And not only do you have big names but you have young upcoming photographers as well.
